Thank you for your interest in owning a Caleebra Finnish Lapphund.
This is not where you will find our Application Form.
We put a lot of time and thought into the information we provide on our webpages and we keep them up to date so you don't have to request the latest information. It's all here.
Please take the time to read the information before contacting us about a puppy.
Please ensure you've read our About pages and 'Our Puppies' page before contacting us.
There's a lot of information for you to digest before applying for one of our puppies.
We always seek to place the most appropriate puppy into each home and family. Sometimes we are surprised but we know our dogs very well and can predict the likely energy, activity, temperament of their offspring with reasonable certainty.
There will be times when we won't expect to have a puppy to suit an application. Rather than string you along or sell you a puppy just to make a sale, we'll just tell you straight up.
1. This litter/puppy isn't suitable.
2. We'd expect a suitable puppy from 'x' parents litter.
3. We won't have a puppy for you for some time.
If you're happy to wait, that's great. Please know we're not going to sell you a puppy if we think we're setting you up to fail.
Research
Research the breed, the breeder and their dogs well. Know what you're getting yourself into. You're going to be spending a long time with that puppy.
There are multiple litters born across the country each year (easily over 200 puppies born each year now), covering most of the states of Australia (Not SA or NT).
Most breeders will produce 0-3 litters per year. We have a well established community of breeders who are trying to work together for the betterment, preservation and integrity of the breed.
We may even recommend another breeder if we think they'll be a better fit.
There are more rogue breeders appearing all the time who aren't part of the community effort to preserve the breed. Please do your checks and be comfortable with your choice, supporting an ethical breeder.
Please read the Puppy Etiquette page if you haven't already and don't rush to jump onto everyone's waiting list.
You just want a Puppy - not a long term relationship
We like to offer support to our buyers but appreciate that looks different to everyone. If you just want a puppy quickly and not a lot of contact that might still work though honestly, I become quite attached to the puppies so updates are actually really important to me. They reassure me that I chose the right family and let me know the puppy is ok.
There are kennel facilities out there filled with Mums and puppies of all ages. They live in the kennel until they're sold. Sometimes for months. They'd probably prefer it if you want no relationship with your breeder.
If you don't mind where your puppy comes from you should be able to find them pretty quickly. They have paid advertising to appear at the top of search results. Good luck
Where I'm coming from - Perspective
You probably update your mobile phone every few years and use it constantly. You may update your car once a decade, every 5 years or even more often as your needs and wants change.
A Finnish Lapphund has a life expectancy of 12-15 years with many reaching 17 years. Your puppy may outlast 7 or more mobile phones and more than 2 or 3 cars.
You owe it to each other to make it a good match
When no other puppy will do, then we'd love to hear from you.
After submitting your enquiry, we will direct you to some information we'd like you to read and take in. We check our emails 1-2 times a week. The latest information pertaining to litters is always available on our website.
If you you're happy to wait for a puppy from us that's fantastic. We personally raise our puppies with love, care and dedication. We pride ourselves on rearing a family companion who will quickly slot into your house and routines, who can discriminate about where to toilet so long as it's not an unreasonable distance for little legs and are ready to learn and become your best friend.
Once we both agree we should have a puppy suitable for you we'll offer you the opportunity to place a small holding deposit to be on our waitlist. This will be for a specific litter or within a specific timeframe. If we can't provide the puppy in that time, a full refund is available to you.
Otherwise I don't keep a waitlist. In the past, pre-approved future owners disappeared after puppies were born, and I was left scrambling after advising the rest of my puppy enquirers and having them seek out puppies from other breeders. It's an awful place to be stuck. I try to have my homes sorted so I can concentrate on raising great puppies.
If you'd like to join our waitlist, please let me know
Please be advised that when we have puppies at home, they come first. Emails take a backseat and will be answered when we can.
